Grande Nero
1980
he sculpture was realized for the Alberto Burri Orsanmichele exhibition, inaugurated in Florence in November 1980 and it was set up in the Orsanmichele spaces. In this exhibition, curated by Vanni Bramanti, Burri decided to show nine large Cellotexes and one painted iron sculpture characterised at the top by a rotating element driven by an electric engine with adjustable speed.
Today the nine large paintings are shown in the permanent collection of the Burri Foundation at the Ex Seccatoi del Tabacco and the kinetic sculpture (7.5 metres high) was donated by Burri to the town of Perugia and it was placed inside the Rocca Paolina in the Umbrian capital.
